PlayBase Weight Limits and Safety Guidelines

Every BERG PlayBase frame has a maximum load of 400kg. Each accessory then has its own user weight limit and minimum age, listed below.

    Frame weight capacity

The maximum load is 400kg in total on all four frames — Wall, Medium, Large and Extra Large. The frame size changes how many accessories you can hang at once, not how much the frame can carry. Our size guide compares the four frames.

    • Wall — 3 carabiner points, one or two swing-type accessories at once
    • Medium — 4 carabiner points, two swing-type accessories at once
    • Large — 6 carabiner points, three swing-type accessories at once
    • Extra Large — 8 carabiner points, four swing-type accessories at once

    • Baby seat — has a three-point harness and T-bar, and can be used from nine months with an adult pushing. The 30kg limit is the one that matters.
    • Climbing wall — rated to 100kg and tested to 250kg.
    • Basketball hoop — the 50kg rating is a load limit on the hoop. It is not for hanging from the rim.

    Can adults use it?

Yes. The fitness accessories — pull-up bar, dip bar, boxing bag, fitness rope and resistance bands — are each rated to 100kg and are intended for users aged 14 and over. See PlayBase for adults for how they work as a garden gym.

    Safety certification

Every PlayBase frame is CE marked. The Wall, Large and Extra Large frames also carry the TÜV SÜD Mark P. The frame carries a 10-year warranty, rising to 13 years when you register it with BERG, and accessories carry a 2-year warranty.

    Simple rules for safe use

    • Keep to the weight limit and minimum age for each accessory
    • One child per swing seat, trapeze or pair of gym rings
    • Keep the clear space around the frame free — about 2m for swings
    • Don't let anyone hang from the basketball rim
    • Supervise younger children, and follow the BERG manual supplied with each product
